Asphalt and Concrete

Asphalt and tar can become very difficult to work with if they cool below a normal operating temperature of 300°. Any delay encountered in transportation (in-facility or over-the-road) can lead to curing in place, with the potential to put costly equipment out of commission, either temporarily or forever. Heating cable and silicone rubber heating blankets are excellent for maintaining working temperature in conduits and vessels, and we have even specified built-to-order immersion heaters to thaw and remove large quantities of hardened asphalt (this requires covering the heater in a layer of liquid asphalt first).

In concrete mixing facilities, admixture materials must often be maintained at a working temperature. Our customers have had success using tote/IBC and drum heaters in these situations.
